Privacy Statement

Introduction.

The Lincoln University Foundation, Inc. (LU Foundation) endeavors to respect the privacy of every individual who visits our site.  In this statement, we disclose our information practices for the LU Foundation site, including what type of information is gathered and tracked, how the information is used, and with whom the information is shared.

For the purpose of this disclosure, the 'LU Foundation site' is defined as publicly accessible pages hosted under the domain:  http://www.lincolnu.edu.

  1. Use of Links

The LU Foundation site may contain links to other sites.  Please be aware that the LU Foundation is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of those sites.  This statement applies solely to information collected by this website.

Creating a text link from your website to our site does not require permission. If you have a link you'd like us to consider adding to our website, please send an email to foundation@lincolnu.edu with the subject "Link request."

  2. Security

The LU Foundation has implemented commercially reasonable technical and appropriate organizational measures to help us keep your personally identifiable information secure, accurate, current and complete.  When you submit personally identifiable information on our site, that information is encrypted when it is sent from your browser to our server using industry standard methods.  This industry standard encryption is called Secure Socket Layer or SSL encryption.  Your browser will notify you that it is using this SSL encryption by placing a lock symbol at the bottom of your browser window.  To learn more about SSL encryption, please visit:  VeriSign Information Center.

Any information that you submit to our website is quickly transferred to a secure computer that is not publicly accessible.  Once off our website, we take additional precautions to protect your data in our access-restricted offices.  Only employees who need the information to perform a specific task are granted access to personally identifiable information.  All personally identifiable information is stored on secured, off-line (non-web accessible) computers.  If you have any concerns about the security of our website, please contact us at:  foundation@lincolnu.edu.

  3. Accessibility

This website is designed to be accessible to visitors with disabilities, and to comply with federal guidelines concerning accessibility. We welcome your comments. If you have suggestions on how to make the site more accessible, please contact us at foundation@lincolnu.edu.

  4. Information Collected Automatically or Placed Automatically on your Computer/Cookies

In some cases, the LU Foundation may automatically collect information (i.e., without you submitting it) about you that is not personally identifiable.  Examples of this type of information include the type of browser you are using, the type of computer operating system you are using, the IP address of your computer, and the domain name of the website from which you linked to our site.  This information is used to ensure our site meets the needs of the majority of our users, as well as to diagnose problems with our website.  This information also helps us produce statistics on how frequently our various pages are visited.

Cookies are tiny files placed onto the hard drive of your computer the first time you visit our website that enable our server to recognize or 'remember' who you are the next time you come back.  Contrary to popular myth, cookies do not extract private or personal information from your computer's memory; rather, they record only information you volunteer to give us upon logging on or visiting the site.

  5. Personal Data

The LU Foundation will not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information about you, such as name, address, telephone number or email address ('personal data') through our site unless you have provided it to us voluntarily.  If you do not want your personal data collected, please do not submit it to us.

When you do provide the LU Foundation with personal data, we may use that information in the following ways, unless stated otherwise:  we may process that information to fulfill an order or request you have placed with us or forward it to a third party for processing; we may store and process that information to better understand your needs and how we can improve our services; and/or we may provide other third parties with aggregate, but not individual, information about visitors to and/or users of our site.  We will not sell, rent or market personal data about you to third parties.  We may use your contact information to send further information about our organization or to contact you when necessary. You may always opt-out of receiving future mailings; see the "Opt Out" section below.

  6. Email

Email messages sent from the LU Foundation may contain confidential information and/or material.  It is not intended for transmission to, or receipt by, any unauthorized persons.  If you have received an email message in error, please (1) do not read it; (2) reply to the sender indicating that you received the message in error so that we can correct our records; and (3) delete the message.  If you have received an email transmission in error, any information or advice contained in it should not be relied upon, copied, forwarded or further disseminated by electronic, print or any other method of communication.

As part of our continuing service to you, we at times may send you email communications.  These communications are considered supplemental to any emails we may send you regarding any registrations or concerns about your account with the LU Foundation.  You have the right to choose to opt-out of these additional communication emails.

  7. Children/Direct Notice to Parents

The LU Foundation website is not directed towards children and it does not knowingly solicit or collect information from children.  If parents want to supervise their children's online activities, they may consider using one of the available prepackaged parental control tools.  These tools can also prevent children from disclosing personal information without parental consent.  For additional information regarding children's online privacy, please consult the 'Consumer Protection' page of the Federal Trade Commission home page at:  http://www.ftc.gov.
